Cooperation Agreement for the International Publishing of An Open China: Creating a New Dynamic in the New Era and Other China-Themed Books Signed in London
On April 18, at the London Book Fair 2023, the signing ceremony for cooperation in the international publishing of An Open China: Creating a New Dynamic in the New Era and other China-themed books was held. The ceremony was sponsored by China International Communications Group (CICG) and organized by Foreign Languages Press (FLP).

More than 20 Chinese and foreign guests attended the event, including Vice President Lu Cairong of CICG, Minister-Counselor Wang Qi at the Chinese Embassy in the UK, Editor-in-Chief Deniz Kizilcec of Canut International Publishers, and leaders from various companies under CICG. Guests watched a video address by Professor Zheng Yongnian, author of An Open China: Creating a New Dynamic in the New Era and professor at the Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen. Hu Kaimin, president and editor-in-chief of Foreign Languages Press, hosted the signing ceremony.

China-themed books, including An Open China: Creating a New Dynamic in the New Era will be translated and published through the cooperation agreement, Lu Cairong declared. They will provide a window for international readers to learn about how openness has spurred China’s development and mutually beneficial cooperation with other countries. China and Türkiye are both ancient civilizations with long histories and are important partners in the Belt and Road Initiative. Through international mechanisms, FLP and Canut International Publishers have strengthened publishing cooperation and expanded cultural exchanges and mutual learning between China and Türkiye. This will help the two countries to better understand each other, promote mutually beneficial cooperation, and advance the building of the Silk Road for people-to-people exchanges in the new era.

Deniz Kizilcec, editor-in-chief of Canut International Publishers, expressed his enthusiasm for Chinese books on technology and culture. Canut International Publishers has also published many academic books reflecting China’s values of friendship and peace, covering topics like the global community of shared future, the Belt and Road Initiative, and the new Silk Road. These books have received positive feedback from international readers. His company is also willing to publish other high-quality Chinese works such as An Open China: Creating a New Dynamic in the New Era .

Zheng Yongnian emphasized how civilizations are enriched by exchanges and mutual learning. For Turkish readers who have been following China’s opening up, the book will help them to understand China and to learn about the new model, new theories, new practices, and new direction of China’s high-standard opening up. Opening up offers boundless possibilities for spreading culture. It also provides a chance for the co-publication of this book. Zheng said that we should hold firm to the belief that open dialogues and cultural exchanges will inject new impetus to the development of our cultures.

FLP and Canut International Publishers of Türkiye signed an international publishing agreement for eight books including An Open China: Creating a New Dynamic in the New Era , each of printed and electronic editions. Canut International Publishers will publish these China-themed books in Türkiye so as to meet Turkish readers’ needs to follow China’s deeper reform and opening up. Vice President Lu Cairong of CICG, Minister-Counselor Wang Qi at the Chinese Embassy in the UK, and other leaders witnessed the signing ceremony.
