Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev wrote a foreword for the book, titled “The True Chinese Miracle”, in which he said, “The book vividly tells the arduous road of poverty alleviation that China has traversed with vivid examples, profoundly summarizes China’s practical experience in poverty alleviation, and highlights the hard-working quality of the Chinese people.” “This book by President Xi Jinping has great political, economic and philosophical insights, and reflects his profound thinking on poverty alleviation and the wellbeing of the people,” the foreword continues, “the publication of this book in Uzbekistan will further consolidate the strategic cooperation between Uzbekistan and China, and promote people-to-people connectivity between the two countries.”

Attendees of the ceremony said that facing the grim situation of the world’s increasing poverty population and the intensifying food security crisis in recent years, President Xi’s book offers a Chinese solution to advancing global poverty reduction governance and promoting sustainable development. Readers can understand President Xi’s important thoughts on local governance, poverty eradication, and development promotion from both their practical starting points and theoretical sources, discover the key to China’s success in poverty reduction, thereby increasing international recognition and understanding of the anti-poverty theory and practice with Chinese characteristics, the attendees said.

They noted that since the 18th CPC National Congress in 2012, the CPC has united the Chinese people and led them in achieving the historic mission of eradicating extreme poverty, realizing moderate prosperity in all respects, and meeting the poverty reduction target set out in the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development 10 years ahead of schedule. These are landmark achievements for China in the new era that profoundly impact the world. China’s paths of building strengths and achieving national rejuvenation provide reference and inspiration for other developing countries to achieve modernization independently and improve people’s wellbeing.

They also noted that since the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Uzbekistan more than 30 years ago, the relations between the two countries have made great progress, and the two nations have become good neighbors with mutual respect and trust, good friends through mutual learning, and good partners of mutual benefit. At present, both countries are promoting the alignment of the Belt and Road Initiative and the “Uzbekistan-2030” strategy, improving the exchange of experience in poverty reduction, cooperation in building industrial capacity, technology sharing, education and training, and people-to-people connectivity. The publication of the Uzbek edition of Up and Out of Poverty will help strengthen the exchange of experience in governance between China and Uzbekistan and increase mutual understanding between the two peoples, they said.
