Readers Meeting for Xi Jinping: The Governance of China held in Lima, Peru
On November 5 local time, a readers meeting for Xi Jinping: The Governance of China was held in Lima, the capital city of Peru, under the auspices of the State Council Information Office of the People’s Republic of China and China International Communications Group (CICG). The event was hosted by Foreign Languages Press (FLP) and the Center for the Americas (CICG Americas), and was attended by around 150 people from the political, publishing, and academic circles, as well as the media of China and Peru.
Guests noted that Xi Jinping: The Governance of China epitomizes President Xi Jinping’s governance strategies and fully shows the theoretical system and practical roadmap of the Chinese path to modernization. It embodies the core value of putting the people first, the spirit of independence and self-reliance, the merits of openness and inclusiveness, and the resolve to promote mutually beneficial cooperation – the defining characteristics of Chinese modernization. They highlighted that the book opened a window for the international community to better understand the Chinese path to modernization and helped readers from all walks of life in Peru and other Latin American countries access updates on China’s development in the new era to foster an in-depth understanding of the country. Many Peruvian attendees view China’s experience as something worth considering for their own country and other developing countries, in Latin America and beyond, as they embark on their own journeys of modernization.
During the event, Chinese guests presented their Peruvian counterparts with the Spanish edition of the fourth volume of Xi Jinping: The Governance of China. Chinese and Peruvian experts and scholars exchanged and discussed the experience of state governance and the modernization of China, Peru, and the wider Latin American world. Since the publication of the first volume in September 2014, Xi Jinping: The Governance of China has been translated and published in 42 languages, and distributed in 180 countries and regions across the globe.
