Theatres are an important communicator and promoter of human civilization, and thus a reliable barometre of a country’s cultural progress. They also create a space where citizens can feel a sense of belonging. The National Centre for the Performing Arts (NCPA) bears a historic mission and underpins the national initiative to popularise arts. The NCPA is a stage for artists to spark creativity and shine, and a platform to show the splendor of Chinese and foreign cultures; figuratively it is a bridge connecting audience with fine works that are of a high artistic standard, and a window through which civilizations around the world can learn from each other. To bring you closer to the NCPA, we have assembled a collection of photos about its architecture, interior design, performance repertoire and artists’ awe-inspiring moments into this book.
