Outlaws of the Marsh is one of the great Chinese classical novels. It tells the story, at the end of the Northern Song Dynasty (960-1127), of 108 persons from all walks of life. Injustice forced them to gather at Liangshan Mountain where, protected by marshes, they defied multiple armies sent against them, did heroic acts, and protected the poor from tyranny. This great novel is wonderful because of the precise description of the characters and the vitality of its words.
